Death Valley National Park - California

Death Valley - the hottest, driest, and lowest in elevation - does not do justice to this great park. There is so much to see in this park - Scotty’s Castle, snow-capped mountains, old twenty-mule-team borax sites, and beautiful rock canyons. There are campgrounds throughout the park and a few back country camp sites, as well. Any kind of vehicle can travel the roads.

This is the perfect time of year to camp at this park, as daytime temperatures in the summer can reach 120 degrees. There are water tanks in the park for your vehicle, but we always carry a lot of water to camp here for us. As with most desert areas, the cooler times of the year are better not to see any snakes. A Dutch oven filled with good hot chili is perfect for an evening meal.  A good camping lantern is also good to have, just in case you make camp late. It can be fairly dark in the desert!
